REALLY? This man, Finbar McGarry, claims he was forced in to ‘involuntary servitude’! He, however, was a graduate student at the University of Vermont in December 2008 when he was arrested for allegedly firing a gun in his home and threatening to kill his family and an official at the university So, he gets himself arrested by being a self-entitled prick and then makes ridiculous claims that he was forced to work against his will????? If anyone was forced to work against their will is the children sent to prison for being children! In an article dated Friday August 10, 2012, “the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division has released investigative findings determining that children in predominantly black Meridian, Miss. have had their constitutional rights violated by the Lauderdale County Youth Court, the Meridian Police Department, and the Mississippi Division of Youth Services in what civil rights investigators allege is a school to prison pipeline with even dress code violations resulting in incarceration”. These children were subject to illegal search and seizure and sent to prison for dress code violations and other ridiculous and imaginary offenses. I am feeling sick and disgusted by all of these events because in this modern age, where ignorance can be corrected by education and communication is so advanced you can speak to some half way around the world in real-time, that people are still abusing and using the system to their evil advantage. It just comes down to pure hatred when you think about it. But why hate so much? We all bleed red blood, we all breathe the same “polluted” air, drink the same “contaminated” water supply, yet some of us choose to believe the stereotypes and ignorant ideals that still seem to permeate all societies! Some still choose to feel they are owed something instead of going out and being of service to their fellow humans. My personal solution to get through all this muck is to keep the faith in which I was raised and turns out works for me best and to hold on to the ideals instilled in me by that faith–to be kind and respectful to all around me and to serve them without regard for a reward or acclaim….to treat everyone as I wish to be treated. Maybe, my example will rub off on folks I meet and we can eventually stomp out the ill that causes the above things to happen to go away from our world permanently. What? I can dream can’t I?
