There has been a lot of conjecture about what Jesus has said in regards to EVERYTHING under the current sun. I have been reading a lot of crusader websites and some are militant in their stance and some are just throwing out thoughts about the way they wish things could be. The question is continually asked, “what did Jesus say and what would Jesus do?” Well, I found a website – The Eight Beatitudes of Jesus– that explains it pretty well and is in line with what I have been taught, believe and try to live by:

{The Ten Commandments, given to Moses on Mount Sinai in the Old Testament Book of Exodus, related a series of “Thou shalt not” phrases, evils one must avoid in daily life on earth.In contrast, the message of Jesus is one of humility, charity, and brotherly love. He teaches transformation of the inner person. Jesus presents the Beatitudes in a positive sense, virtues in life which will ultimately lead to reward. Love becomes the motivation for the Christian. All of the Beatitudes have an eschatological meaning, that is, they promise us salvation – not in this world, but in the next. The Beatitudes initiate one of the main themes of Matthew’s Gospel, that the Kingdom so long-awaited in the Old Testament is not of this world, but of the next, the Kingdom of Heaven. via THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS.}

I learned what Jesus said growing up and I have strived to pattern myself under his teachings of unconditional love. I’m not perfect and I have my faults (the biggest is my low tolerance for all things stupid) but I do try. My friends and family can attest to how much I try. Almost to the detriment of myself. Along these lines, that completely coincides with the Beatitudes, are the Virtues. There are seven basic but the list is actually longer. I found another website that list all of them and if you read the Beatitudes and then the list of Virtues, you will understand what we are called to do in this life. I’m not judging or preaching but just pointing out the road to peace and happiness that I’ve taken and so many of us strive for. The road is not without its bumps but living by these Beatitudes and Virtues has made life bearable. You don’t have to believe and you don’t have to adhere to any of it but I hope you at least take a moment to consider. Have a blessed day!
