How many people have gone into a store for one or two things and get to the “express line” only to find someone ahead of them with more than the item number listed on the sign? I waited 20 minutes in the “20 items or less” line because people ignore this sign and think they are above it all. The stores do not enforce this rule they created because they want their employees to look productive. But it isn’t productive to have people waiting in a line with 1 or 2 items in their hands while the jackhole (thank you Andy Cohen #WWHL) in front of them have 30 items! When I was cashier, before the world became so selfish, we had specific duties to perform if there was no one ready to check out. What happened to that? We kept the “express line” open for 5, 10, 15, or 20 items or less available for people who needed a quick in and out shopping experience. We made sure people didn’t ignore the sign.  We maintained the ethics and integrity of the signage posted. I miss those days of ethics and integrity in business! ALL BUSINESS! No matter what the industry, ethics and integrity should be maintained as a part of good customer service. When businesses exercise good customer service, they make repeat customers. When they don’t, they get talked about really badly on social media. IJS!
