I am laughing so hard right now! It appears the Russian Parliament is trying to not appear misogynistic but it may have backfired! Can you imagine what would happen if the same thing was proposed over here? Sometimes I think men may be right about the wishy-washy nature of some women. Not all, just some! I suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome – Fibroid and I would LOVE to be able to take paid leave aside from regular vacation and sick days to handle my period! I am just shaking head at this nonsense! The Russian MP Mikhail Degtyaryov, who made the proposal, recognizes that women do suffer psychological and physiological discomfort during that time and it can hinder work performance. I applaud him! I think his heart is in the right place trying to protect Russian women in the workplace and I don’t find anything sexist about it! Would you rather lose your job for too many missed days or be protected under this new proposed legislation? Our legislative bodies could take a lesson from this man! Women should just tell the truth and shame the devil and accept that our periods are the most rotten part about being a woman! Yes, it allows us to give birth to future misogynist, but it can be debilitating as well! Sometimes I think women are their own worst enemy and we are too quick to shoot down genuine concern for our health. It could be because there is a history of bait and switch by our politicians when it comes to women’s issues, but have we become so jaded that we can’t see the big picture? I hope Mr. Degtyaryov’s proposal gains steam and these silly women see beyond their feminist ideals and let something good happen!
